
SIIUR is a project of urban innovation, developed in an open innovation and business collaboration format, which integrates communication technologies, infrastructure and services in order to optimize the management of municipal services by reducing costs and energy consumption, offering innovative and functional services for society.

SIIUR has a demonstrative aim with a dual objective: To test new more efficient lighting systems and to integrate a number of technological features and services to develop a real environment of Smart City, using the infrastructure that is developed around

The first stage of SIIUR project has enabled to use new lighting technologies based on LED technology, its monitoring and remote management individually. Barcelona Digital Technology Centre is coordinating the second stage, in order to evolve the project to an environment of Smart City, which integrates innovative and efficient technologies to provide new services and business models to social benefits for citizens and business results generated by competitiveness in open innovation process.

The urban living lab SIIUR, is installed since July of 2009 in the 22@Barcelona. The project's objectives are based on making a paradigm shift in the management of municipal services by the utilization and integration of infrastructures in order to:
> Reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2)
> Reducing consumption and electricity costs
> Provide new services and features to society
> Increase the quality of life of its own citizens
> To become a model intelligent city
